My Refuge

Photography is one of the things that I am passionate about. It gives me a sense of refuge when life is pressing me down. I find comfort and fulfillment by taking lots of photos and working on it in my laptop to occupy my mind. The following are some of the photos I took while on vacation or sometimes while driving around just to catch a breath of fresh air to rejuvenate my soul...

Solomon Island, Maryland:

One of my favorite comfort foods:

Boracay (Philippines) with its pearly white sand, is one of the best beaches in the world and course my favorite destination whenever I'm in the Philippines:

From my hometown General Santos City and neighboring towns:
Our Lady Of Peace And Good Voyage Parish

Some of the Golf Courses I played:

From my travels: Ayutthaya, a World Heritage site in Thailand

The City of Bangkok

one of the palaces

the leaning buddha

Here and there in USA:
I started photography as a hobby about three years ago and still trying to learn and understand it. I have been practicing by taking lots of pictures. I feel privileged to be able to share some of them with you.

Life Simply Explained

I love fables. One of my favorites is The Tortoise and the Hare
I want to share with you this quite entertaining story that explains life in a funny but satirical way...

On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten." So God agreed.

On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks and make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?" And God agreed.

On the third day God created the cow. "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed again.

On the fourth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years." Man said, "What? Only twenty years? Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back, and the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?" Okay," said God, "You've got a deal." So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you.

Faces Of Life

The photos that you see here were all taken while I was on my vacation in the Philippines last September-October 2009. My favorite subjects are beautiful sceneries, sunsets, oceans and people.

I took all of these photos somewhere where almost, if not all of the residents are living below the nation's poverty level. But looking at the photos below, you can see happy, innocent smiles of children, unpretentious smile of a man, a woman, a mother or a child.

Filipinos are very flexible when it comes to a place to rest. They can get a very good sleep anywhere as shown in these photos:

These are some of the faces of poverty:

at this young age, she should be in school instead of running in the street earning a living for the whole family

Some of favorite past times:

People watching

Texting

Family bonding

Palm reader and paparazzis at the park

Baby sitting at the park

And last but not the least, this is unique only in the Philippines:
A truckload of People and cows

This one just loves photography as much as I do. She'll twists her neck, lie on the ground or even pissed her boyfriend just to get the shot she wanted, hehehe!

I want to close this post with this wisdom: "the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along their way."

Happiness is a choice. Choose to be happy always. Smile!
